Biography

Dr. Luke Eckersly received his medical training at the University of Sydney in Australia before migrating to Canada to complete a Fetal and Neonatal Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Alberta. He officially joined the Stollery team in 2017 as a Pediatric and Fetal Cardiologist where he cares for patients and families impacted by CHD. Dr. Eckersly’s career has included international appointments in Cardiology at institutions in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

 

Dr. Eckersly’s international clinical experience is complemented by equally impressive international education experience. This includes participation in invitational fetal cardiology teaching at St. Pauls, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2018), and the Advanced Fetal Cardiac Symposium for bedside fetal cardiology teaching and research collaborative in Sao Paulo, Brazil (2020).

 

Dr. Eckersly is the Director of Pediatric Cardiology Inpatient Services at the Stollery and Co-Chair of the Connect Care Pediatric Cardiology Subcommittee. He is also a member of both the Cardiac Family Advisory Care Team and the 4C3 Stollery Cardiology Quality Council. He has served as physician lead on several WCCHN projects including the design and build of a custom fetal cardiology module to help learn more about prenatal detection of CHD in Western Canada, and the Stollery’s implementation of the PAC3 Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative designed to optimize care and outcomes for infants and children with CHD.
