Dr. Iman Naimi, MD, FAAP, FRCPC, FPICS, is a Pediatric and Adult Congenital Interventional Cardiologist at BC Children’s Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Program at BC Children’s Hospital and is licensed to practice Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology in both Canada and the United States.
Following residency training, Dr. Naimi completed fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Interventional Cardiology at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington.
Prior to joining BC Children’s Hospital in 2025, he served as a Congenital Interventional Cardiologist at the Stollery Children’s Hospital and Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in Edmonton, Alberta, where he was Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Program Director of the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program.
During his time in Edmonton, Dr. Naimi performed the first Harmony™ and Venus-P™ self-expanding transcatheter pulmonary valve implantations in pediatric patients in Western Canada, as well as the first valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in a pediatric patient in Canada. He has a clinical interest in pulmonary vein disease, including transcatheter pulmonary vein recanalization and rehabilitation.
Dr. Naimi specializes in catheter-based therapies for congenital heart disease. His clinical interests include transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation, complex PDA stenting, PDA closure in premature neonates, pulmonary vein rehabilitation, coarctation and aortic arch stenting, VSD device closure, and implantation of the Atrial Flow Regulator (AFR) device for Fontan fenestration creation and selected patients with severe pulmonary hypertension.
His research interests include transcatheter heart valve therapies, Fontan physiology, Kawasaki disease, and congenital cardiovascular intervention.
Having grown up in Vancouver, Dr. Naimi returned to British Columbia in 2025 to join the BC Children’s Hospital Cardiology Program. He is actively involved in medical education, trainee mentorship, clinical research, and the introduction of novel technologies into clinical practice. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology: Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease and is a Founding Fellow of the Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiovascular Society.
