Dr. Heng Gan

Dr. Heng Gan is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at BC Children’s Hospital. A native of the United Kingdom, Dr. Gan completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. Prior to joining the BC team in 2018, he was Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, in London.

Dr. Gan has received numerous awards throughout his career, many of which recognize his contributions to enhancing medical care in developing countries. In 2013, he received the Medical Staff Association Travel Scholarship from BC Children’s Hospital, an award that provided funding to participate in a two-week pediatric surgical camp in Kampala, Uganda. In 2012, he received the Trainee Clinical Investigator Seed Grant Award from the Child & Family Research Institute, which provided funding to help initiate the development of a mobile diagnostic & advisory device for management of children with sepsis in developing countries.

Dr. Gan also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia Department of Anesthesia, Pharmacology & Therapeutics (a role he has held since 2021).
