BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only treatment, teaching, research and health promotion facility devoted exclusively to the health and wellness of children and youth. Outpatient cardiac care is delivered through The Heart Centre, which provides services to patients from British Columbia and across Western Canada.

Acting as one of two surgical sites within the network, a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, nurses and allied health professionals work together to deliver life-saving care. Every year, the BC Children’s Heart Centre performs more than 250 cardiac surgeries and 265 specialized procedures in the hospital’s cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs.

The Hospital is also home to the Children’s Cardiology Partnership Program, one of the largest pediatric cardiac outreach programs in all of Canada. Bringing services right to a child’s home community, this program supports more than 1600 patients a year by sending staff to run clinics in Abbotsford, Cranbrook, Surrey, Fort St. John, Hazelton, Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton, Prince George, Terrace, Trail, Vernon, Williams Lake, and Whitehorse, YK.
