Your Child’s Surgery
At WCCHN, we believe that some of the most powerful resources come from within our own heart community. Families who’ve walked the path of complex medical care often hold deep wisdom—wisdom that can support others in moments of uncertainty, grief, and hope. Caregiver’s Corner is one such resource that was funded by WCCHN through our BoostUp pitch competition. Developed by Jennifer Siran, a heart mom from Manitoba, this project brings a Western Canadian perspective to the caregiver journey.
We are proud to support initiatives like this—ones that recognize the emotional toll caregiving can take, while offering real, accessible ways to cope, connect, and carry on. From bite-sized stories to a free audiobook and digital videos, Caregiver’s Corner is a gentle reminder that caregivers are not alone—and that support can be found in simple, meaningful ways.
Caregiver’s Corner began as a way to support caregivers navigating their child’s chronic health needs—especially during those early, overwhelming moments when everything feels like too much. Inspired by her own experience, Jennifer created a book called When Your World Stops: Finding Hope in Your Child’s Medical Journey, which blossomed into a full suite of digital resources.
From an audiobook to 3-minute videos and a curated LinkTree, this project helps caregivers engage with support at their own pace, on their own terms. It acknowledges that hospital environments can be intimidating, and that sometimes, just one short chapter or kind voice can be the lifeline someone needs. Designed to be brief but impactful, every piece is crafted with the caregiver’s time, energy, and emotional reality in mind.
Each of these free resources is designed to offer a small but meaningful pause in a caregiver’s day. Click to explore.
