Dr. Emilie Jean-St. Michel

Originally from northern Quebec, Dr. Jean-St-Michel is a pediatric cardiologist with expertise in heart failure, transplantation, clinical epidemiology, and health systems research. She earned her medical degree from McGill University and completed a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at the University of Toronto. She subsequently completed fellowship training in pediatric cardiology and pediatric heart failure and transplantation at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, where she later served as a staff pediatric cardiologist for eight years.

During her time at SickKids, Dr. Jean-St-Michel held an Assistant Professorship in the Department of Pediatrics and contributed extensively to clinical leadership, education, and research. She chaired both the Labatt Family Heart Centre Innovation Fund Project Selection Committee and the Competence Committee within the Division of Cardiology. Supported by CIHR-funded work, her academic interests have focused on fostering mentorship, team development, and innovation in pediatric cardiac care. Since relocating to British Columbia in 2022, she has expanded cardiology services for northern communities through her work at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia, while also serving as a locum cardiologist at BC Children’s Hospital. Most recently, she held the role of Deputy Head of the Department of Pediatrics at UHNBC.
